The World Uyghur Congress (WUC) has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to take strict actions against China\u2019s mass detention centres. In a letter addressed to OIC \u2013 an international organization consisting of 57 member states\u00a0with a collective population of over 1.8 billion,\u00a0WUC urged it to look after the genocide and crime against humanity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The group accused the People\u2019s Republic of China of neglecting the basic human rights of the Uyghurs, Kazakhs and other Muslim minorities that are illegally held in several detention camps in the western province of China. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe call on you to take a firm stand against the PRC\u2019s human rights abuses and to support efforts by Uyghur and international organizations and governments worldwide to bring these to an end,\u201d WUC said in an open letter to OIC on Saturday. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

It is worth mentioning several Asian, Western and European nations have raised grave concerns about the Chinese Xi Jinping-led government\u2019s intention to suppress the people in packed detention camps. Despite mounting pressure, Beijing never accepted having any such camps in the western region of the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The internment camp system forms a part of the PRC\u2019s targeted attack on every expression of a distinct Uyghur ethnic identity, which includes a severe crackdown on Islam and Uyghur religious identity, noted the letter addressed to OIC. However, he never accepted such brutality in the illegal camps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, the group said that ordinary religious behaviour, such as possessing a Quran, praying, having a beard, or wearing a hijab are some of the key reasons for the Communist regime sending the minorities to detention centres. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, thousands of mosques, shrines, graveyards and other sites of religious significance in East Turkistan have been destroyed or damaged, WUC added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe PRC\u2019s systematic human rights violations against the Uyghurs, Kazakhs and other Muslims have already been recognized by the United States government and seven national parliaments to constitute crimes against humanity and genocide.<\/p>

Most recently, these crimes have been confirmed by the independent Uyghur Tribunal in London, which found \u201cbeyond reasonable doubt that the PRC \u2026 has committed genocide under the Genocide Convention,\u201d read the letter.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
