Pastor Bob Fu at a House Foreign Affairs Committee Hearing with the Congressional Executive Commission on China commented in a report that religious freedom had deteriorated to its lowest level since 1982 in the first 10 months of 2011. The U.S. State Department in a recent report on religious freedom in 2011 also stated that religious freedom had “[markedly deteriorated]” during the last year, describing the repression of Uyghurs as “severe”.
